Please join me tonight at 7:30 p.m. as I mark the 14th anniversary of the Citizens United vs Federal Election Commission decision. This decision by the US Supreme Court, which held a 5-4 split that the freedom of speech clause in the First Amendment prohibits the government from restricting independent expenditures for political campaigns by corporations including non-profit corporations labor unions and other associations. For all practical intent and purposes, this opens a floodgates to dark money in politics and corporate personhood, eventually leading us to the best democracy money can buy. Once broadcasted, this episode will bearchived both here and at realchange.us
